Construction on I-275 will take place over a four-year period and will not be closed.

Improvements (from Will Carleton North to Northline Road)

A majority of this segment is federally funded, which is focused on the state highways and bridges that are critical to the state’s economy and carry the most traffic.

  • Roadway improvements
    • Northbound/southbound concrete pavement repairs
    • Interchange concrete pavement repairs/asphalt resurface
  • Bridge improvements (9 bridges)

Rebuilding (from Northline Road to 6 Mile Road)

  • Roadway reconstruction
  • Drainage improvements
  • Bridge improvements and rebuilding (56 bridges)
  • Traffic signal improvements
  • New signs
  • New intelligent transportation system (ITS) technology

This segment is federally funded, which is focused on the state highways and bridges that are critical to the state’s economy and carry the most traffic.

The Metro Trail

  • Improvements to retaining walls and culvert crossings will be made along sections of the Metro Trail
  • Signage will be available at the parking areas and closure itself providing details when closed
  • Closures will be coordinated with Friends of the Metro Trail
