Traveling Southeast Michigan

At MDOT, safety is paramount. It is our goal to improve overall safety for all road users, internal staff, contractors performing work on roads, and emergency responders. We continue to work with MDOT partners to seek out innovative ideas and ways to keep Michigan's road users and workers safe. Our ultimate vision is continually advancing Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) on Michigan roadways.

Tips for safe and better travel during road work:

  • Know before you go. Learn about daily/weekly work activities before you get on I-275.
  • Plan ahead. Look for alternate travel routes.
  • Take your time. Allow extra travel time to get where you're going.
  • Slow down. Let's keep work crews safe and avoid motorist fender benders from suddenly stopped traffic.

Stay focused. Look for changing road conditions and activities.
